Website Redesign

It's worth reviewing your website every couple of years because:

  • From fashion to interior design, hairstyles to architecture, trends come in and trend go out. In web design this can happen more rapidly than in other sectors. If your website is the equivalent of flares and tie-dye, you could be giving out the wrong impression.
  • Coding methods change. The way we used to code five years ago is quite different to the way we code now. Why does this matter? Search engines look more favourably on sites that meet modern web standards.
  • Businesses grow, develop and evolve. Has your website kept up with you?
  • The internet as a whole has changed. Facebook is now the most visited site in the US having overtaken Google and is expected to do so in the UK this year. It's worth reviewing your site to make sure you're taking advantage of social media.

When thinking about redesigning your site:

  • Try to develop a clear vision and strategy of what you want to achieve. There's no point redesigning just for the sake of it. Are you looking to move into a new sector, attract more visitors, start selling online, achieve better search engine ratings or revitalise your brand?
  • Listen to your customers. Try to get some feedback on your current website. What do they like and what don't they like?
  • Review your content. A new website is not only an opportunity for a new design but also a great time to review your content. Remove out-of-date text. Clean up duplicate information.
  • Does it do what it's supposed to do? This is the bottom line. A website redesign shouldn't be about adding the latest flashy gadgets and gizmos. It should be about making sure it's working hard for your business and for your customers.
